"We are very satisfied with Simple SMS">>
Here you will find some tips for successful mobile marketing:
Also SMS marketing - just as postal or E-mail mailings - has to be thought through. We would be glad to help you!
- Ideas to receive customer data:
At the beginning it is important to collect customer phone numbers. If you do not have phone numbers of your customers, you should initiate a competition / lottery. Every customer, who sends a SMS to your 2-WAY SMS phone number, then takes automatically part in the competition. That means that you can send news, coupons and advertising on this number - as long as the customer agrees.
- With the help of traditional advertising media:
Present your 2-WAY SMS number in advertisements of all kinds. Maybe you take out a newspaper ad, in which you present the phone number - as well as a poster, a TV commercial offers that possibility. Similarly, flyers, invitations and direct mailings are ideal for the presentation of your number.
- With the help of SMS cards:
Many of our customers use so-called SMS cards, to get to customer data. Here you can see such a SMS card from our customer - Rox Musicbar.
- With the help of competitions:
Some people need a little incentive to disclose their data. With the Simple SMS tool it is easy to manage competitions.
- With the help of „tell a friend“:
Very successful are referral mechanisms, where the customers inform their friends about special offers via SMS: in this case your existing database gets more data, without any further effort.
In the case of a health club, this could look like this:
- 1. The customer sends a recommendation-SMS with the name and phone
number of his friend to the health club.
- 2. In exchange, he gets for example a free drink at the bar and the friend a small
gift, for example 1 free month to test the health club.
- 3. Now the friend will be informed, that a friend has invited him to a training and
that he receives 1 free month to test the health club.
- 4. The friends only has to reply "Yes" to request further information or to make an
appointment for his training.
- Tips for the management of SMS competitions:
- Talk plain!
Try to avoid to send confusing and lengthy SMS. The recipient should get the information as quickly and simply as possible.
- Look for matching replies!
If a customer takes part in a competition via SMS, he should get an appropriate response immediately! So you can prevent misunderstandings. For example: The customer sends a SMS with the keyword "competition" and receives automatically an appropriate return SMS such as "Thank you for your participation in the competition! The draw will take place on 12 June 2011 - the winners will be informed immediately by phone!". So the customer can be sure that the registration to the competition has worked and he is informed about the next steps.
- Create incentives!
The quality and value of the prizes to be won is very essential for the participation in the competition! Therefore: the higher the quality of the prize, the more participants!
- Allow to unsubscribe!
Unwanted SMS annoy customers quickly, so you should ensure that a SMS-recipient always has the chance to unsubscribe from the service quickly and easily. For example: "Thank you for your participation in the competition! Send STOP to the number +43676/800 00 00 to unsubscribe from this service!". Customers, which send a SMS with the keyword STOP, are put automatically on the blacklist, and are excluded from further SMS sendings.
- Tips for your SMS sending:
- Send short advertising SMS!
It is not advisable to send advertising SMS, which are longer than 1 SMS. Your SMS should be short and concise, so that you cannot annoy and overwhelm your customers.
- Allow to unsubscribe!
The customer should always have the possibility to unsubscribe from the SMS service quickly and easily! This works by sending a SMS with the content "STOP" to your exclusive phone number.
- Observe the telecommunications law!
Do not send unsolicited advertising. According to current laws (TKG = Telecommunication Law) you may only send SMS to those, who have given their explicit consent. This consent must also be able to be proven. Is there a contractual relationship between you and the recipient of the SMS (for example the SMS recipient is your customer), it depends on the contract and general terms & conditions if it is permitted to send SMS. But for the recipient there always has to be the possibility to unsubscribe from the service and you must inform the recipient explicitly on how he can unsubscribe from the newsletter.
- Time of transmission of your SMS sending
Send your advertising SMS in acceptable intervals - a SMS every few days would possibly annoy the recipient. To send a SMS every 1-2 weeks is normally acceptable. Remember also, that unlike a postal or E-mail message, a SMS message is delivered with a tone, which means that you should not send your message at a time, when the recipient might sleep (between 09.00 p.m. and 09.00 a.m.).
